Driving toward Silifke, seeing the citadel, we just have to visit it. It's irresistible. Then we move on into the Göksu Valley. Following the river we arrive at the point where were under never cleared up circumstances Frederick Barbarossa spent his last hours. Here is a German monument to his memory. We drive deeper into the valley till we have to take the turn to Alahan Monastery. About 3 km from the main road we arrive at the sight. It's lovely to walk around and see the mainly Byzantine remains of this Monastery.
